DOES TOOTHPASTE REALLY MATTER?

WHAT’S THE BEST TOOTHPASTE FOR MY CHILD?

And how much should be used?

As we all know, tooth brushing is one of the most important tasks for good oral health. Many toothpastes, however, can damage your kiddo’s teeth. They contain harsh abrasives, which can wear away young tooth enamel. When looking for a toothpaste for your child, make sure to pick one that is recommended by the American Dental Association as shown on the box and tube. These toothpastes have undergone testing to ensure they are safe to use and won’t harm your kiddo’s teeth.

As for how much to use, for children 3 years old or younger, use a smear of toothpaste, the size of a grain of rice is enough. For children 3 to 6 years old, use a “pea-size” amount of toothpaste.

Keep in mind that little ones younger than eight or nine do not have the ability to brush their teeth effectively on their own. Until then, you should do it for them or give them a hand. And make sure they spit out and don’t swallow the excess toothpaste!
